Good Day, Everyone! The interest appears to have come again and we hear your prayers!
(Do you like how I started this one like the last similar announcement made?)
(Do you like how I started this one like the last similar announcement made?)
We are going to be starting a new method of hosting games here at Rabbit Doubt Games. We have come to terms that games played out may be even more fun if someone outside of the same 3 people were hosting them. As much as we admins love to host, we believe that new, better ideas can come from the innovative thinkings of player-hosted games. With that being said, we will now begins a new era of RDG games, allowing players to host the main game. We've done temp GM's in the past, but this is no longer a seasonal/occasional thing. This will be a permanent change to RDG, which will be called Game Hosts.
Like before, we are not restricting who can apply, just as long as you fit the basic requirements.
To be a Game Host (GH), we require the following:
- Membership. You need to have been active player for 6 months (or longer) before you are eligible.
- Rules. You need to have a clear understanding of the rules. Those who have willingly broken the rules, committed serious offences, or maliciously cause other players distress will probably not be able to do this.
- Proper English. It does not need to be your first language! However, we want everyone to be able to understand you. So, communication is key.
- Seriousness. We want all applicants to be here and ready. If you are busy and want to go later in the turn order, please speak with us and we'll work with you. However, we want everyone signing up to take this seriously and fit this into their schedules without forgetting. If you sign up and we have no other Game Hosts left, but you are still unable to create your game, then we won't be able to wait for you.
We will begin a queue of players interested in hosting. This will be on a first come, first served basis, but fear not! Games usually take 2-3 weeks, and players can sign back up right after their hosted game is done, to wait in the queue once more. Keep in mind, however, the timing of games, and roughly what time your game will take place. We do not want players to sign up for hosting, then when the time comes they cannot host due to reasons; with the exemption of emergencies.
When hosting a game, remember the following:
- Game Rules. If you want to have your own game rules, outside of the current RDG game rules, please make sure to well define what those rules are at the start of your game, or in a "Rules" thread on the current game board you are hosting.
- Length of Game. Depending on the number of players, keep in mind how long your game will take. We do not want a host starting a game, just to quit half-way through because they no longer want to host or it's too much work.
- Communication. Always keep the admins up-to-date with what's happening, if assistance is needed or if an emergency arises that takes you away from your duties as a Game Host.
- Consistency. Try to keep the posting of rounds to a consistent time to keep the game flowing.
With the requirements and mental notes of hosting out of the way, we do have to put a few warnings, to be transparent and let everyone interested in hosting understand. We will implement a strike system, so that we don't have reoccurring hosts who constantly quit hosting or break rules mid-game.
Within 3 months of getting a strike, your strike (1 at a time) can be lifted from your account as long as you do not make repeat offences. For example, if you get 3 strikes, you cannot host a game for 9 months, with it the amount of time it takes for 3 strikes to be lifted. (1 strike every 3 months)
Three Strike Warning System:
- Strike 1. You will receive a strike.
- Strike 2. You will receive a strike, and must play in 3 games before hosting again.
- Strike 3. You will receive a strike, and can no longer host until all 3 strikes are lifted.
With all of that out of the way, you must contact Admins Degree , SpellCraft , or Alucard if you would like to host a game.
It is preferred that you have a game idea in mind, and how you want to execute it, before signing up to host a game.
For any other questions, feel free to ask!
I'll put a Q&A here, check back periodically!
