I sort of wanted to make this since I use a lot of 'lingo from Mafiascum forums, Mafia Discord groups, etc that way if someone asks me what a word I use means, I can just copy+paste or give them the link. Who knows, maybe a few of these terms will be adopted by other players and get added to the meta.
Btw, by me saying some of these fallacies/scumtells/etc, it is likely that they will be less reliable as people will have read them and tried to avoid them.
7 for 7 - Logical fallacy, consists primarily of statements such as:
"I have called out the wolves 7 times in a row now, therefore I have to be right this time!"
Every time a phrase like this is said, it is almost 100% confirmed that the "wolf"/"wolves" in question will be rabbits.
Bussing - When a wolf lynches another wolf to appear as town.
Buzzword - Usually a tell for if someone is scum. If a player is using buzzwords to advance their points instead of looking at motivations. This is particularly a scum tell as it is used by throwing buzzwords at a person in an accusation to give off the "appearance" of scum-reading, without actually having to give reasons. Common Buzzwords are:
- OMGYS/OMGUS responses
- WIFOM
- Flailing
- etc
Celebrity Victim "Gambit" - When a wolf chooses to kill someone well known with a lot of connections in order to frame people close to the victim.
Chainsaw Defense -
"a player who defends another player by attacking the other player's attacker is very probably scum" - Tarhalindur
(A subset of the Chainsaw Defense is the "Mutual Chainsaw Defense", where two players defend each other vehemently by attacking the other person's attackers).
Fluffposting - Also known as "Active Lurking", these are posts that serve literally no purpose other than to show that you exist.
Follow the Leader (to your grave) - When you are following someone who seems trustworthy, and going solely off of what they say. Almost always leads to lynching innocents.
Fong's Gambit - When a person self-votes to gauge the reactions.
Kingmaker - When the choice that decides the game is left in the hands of 1 person's decision.
LyLo/Lynch-or-Lose - A position in which the rabbits are put in a position where they have to lynch a wolf or automatically lose the game.
OMGYS/OMGUS - Stands for "OH MY GOD YOU SUCK (for voting me)". These types of posts use the logic of "You voted for me, therefore that gives me an excuse to vote for you!". Can be used as a scumtell.
Prod-Dodging - Similar to Fluffposting, these are posts that are made for the sole intent of not getting prodded, such as "I was busy today" "I will explain later".
Scum - Not Innocent.
Scum-Reading - The process of using tells, logic, and knowledge of a player's play-style or actions to determine if they are innocent or not innocent.
Slayer's Gambit - When a Rabbit acts scummy intentionally to get voted up so that they can see who jumped on the bandwaggon.
WIFOM/Wine In Front Of Me -
Essentially, WIFOM is the logic of:
"WIFOM is the circular reasoning that results from trying to determine the choices of an opponent who acted with full knowledge that their behavior would be subject to scrutiny." - Mafiascum Wikia.
"Person A is mafia, as action 1 clearly points to them!"
"But wouldn't Person A know that Action 1 clearly points to them and do the opposite?"
"Exactly, they did it so we would think that they did the opposite, when in reality they did it!"
"Exactly, they did it so we would think that they did the opposite, when in reality they did it!"
etc.
WIFOM gets its name from this famous scene: www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_eZmEiyTo0
WMFM/Why me = Fry me - When a player defends themselves with "Why me?" which is a very obvious scum tell. (Note this doesn't apply when the player is inexperienced, actually accused for no reason, or are accused with a vague reason.)
If there are other terms that I forgot, or new ones that surface, I will edit this post to add them.
Thank you for reading this, - Miss Relm.
