Hello everyone! We’d like to ask for your opinion on a something (as players, not as GMs).
In the entirety of RDG’s history, there have been several cases of specific people repeatedly being killed off first if not early in consecutive games (by different wolves or players).
The reactions of the people who repeatedly died early have varied from person to person. For some, it became like an in-joke, a “curse”, albeit a frustrating one. Others have reacted more poorly and have even decided to leave the site out of frustration.
Our question is, should we try to discourage wolves from targeting players who have been killed repeatedly in the first round, at least if it was consecutive for games? Or should we maybe make a pact that if we get picked as wolves, we'll avoid killing people who die early often (at least for the first rounds)?
Being killed off first in consecutive games can be rather discouraging, demoralising and frustrating, and even someone who would have been excited to play would eventually become rather disillusioned with the game.
We will never impose any rules on whom the wolves might kill or whom the rabbits might vote for. The players will have full liberty in these regards.
Our question is whether we should try to discourage such behaviour, like we do ninja-voting. I think there is already an attitude in-game that kind of vilifies targeting people who usually die early (by the wolves). But that can also be seen as a plus for some wolves.
Again, we want to make sure wolves and rabbits have liberty in their actions. And obviously, when playing a game such as this, it is really unreasonable not to expect dying very often or even being unlucky and having a tendency of dying early. But we also want to make sure everyone has an enjoyable experience.
We’re interested in a discussion on this subject. Please feel free to publicise your opinion in this thread, or, if you prefer, via PM.
PS: Santa, Degree, DJ and I, have have been talking about this thing. Please consider that we’re putting up this thread as players, not as GMs and don’t be afraid of expressing your opinion.
The "we" in the poll refers to all of us players.
As GMs, we don't want to (and won't) put pressure on wolves to kill in a certain way and we want to make sure everyone has liberty in their actions.
Thanks.
