Greetings people! Unlucky here!
As you might know, or not, I've written quite a few essays on this board in the past 3-4 years.
Some of you may know me from the latest thriller I've finished a few weeks ago, but other might know me from the first one in 2012 (I was takishi back then)
I've planned to do a bit linked story, and to do so, I've started rewritting the previous stories.
So sit back, enjoy (or not, can't make you do anything) and comment, they are all wanted.
Chapter 1: a bad start
It was dark.
Crackshot didn’t remember how he got here. He remembered talking and laughing with a bunch of stanger he met on the internet, and then…
Nothing.
All he knew right know was that he was in a pitch black room, on his knees, trying to find a wall, or som support upon which he could hold onto, and for now, he hadn’t had much luck I doing so. There was a foul stench in the air, but he couldn't find what it was, or where it came from, but for now, he simply wanted to find some light.
His hands stumbled upon something. He lifted his hand to feel what it was. It seemed round, although it was not perfectly round, some places stood out more than others. It was kinda hard, and yet squishy. It was hairy, yet smooth. There was some sort of liquid pouring from it. Some of it got on Crackshots' hand and he tasted it, just to see if he recognized the flavor.
It was sour, and tasted kind of metallic.
He kept the ball like objectunder his arm, and continued crawling on the slippery floor, like a newborn. After a few moments where the only sounds were the sound of his crawling and of his breathing, there was a loud "thump" and a hardly muffled curse.
Crackshot had finally found a wall, and after standing up, by luck, the switch for the lights. After being in the dark for an unknown amount of time, you missed the light, even an artificial one coming a light bulb. He turned the lights on, and the light that he so dearly missed a few seconds before, made his regret his decision of wanting some.
At the beginning, he had to squint his eyes really badly to be able to make out the forms and the colors of the room. The room was white, with a lot of red. The red paint was oddly placed on the wall, like somebody splattered it there, and it glittered lightly. He walked closer to it, intrigued, and noticed that it was still fresh. It dawned on him. It wasn’t paint.
It was blood.
The blood wasn't part of the original design of the room, and a chill crawled up Crackshot’s spine. Where did it come from? He slowly turned around and in the middle of the room, seemingly waiting to be found out, the owner of the blood appeared.
The body was horribly mutilated. Think BTK, Ted Bundy and Manson got together, and exchanged techniques with somebody to serve as an example. After looking a few seconds at the scene, Crackshot couldn’t hold his breakfast in him, and emptied the contents of his stomach in a corner of the room. After doing so, he went closer to the corpse, gagging, but trying to stay calm, he took a closer look at the mutilations.
The flanks were opened, the ribs could be seen, probably with a butcher's knife, and the legs, or what was left of them were so opened up that you could see in multiple places, the bare bones. The chest area, if you could still call it that, was terribly caved in, and under the breast plate, there was a symbol that was carved. He felt as if he had already seen that symbol somewhere, but he couldn't remember where. But something very important was missing from the body.
It was the head.
Crackshot felt a now familiar chill crawling down his spine. He didn’t want to, already knowing what he was going to see, but he slowly lowered his eyes. The thing that he was holding from the begining was not a ball, as he so naively thought, but the severed head of the corpse, and the liquid that was pouring out was the same on that had redecorated the room. Blood. The head had possessed previously feminine features and long, black hair, but now, one of her eyes were gouged out, her nose was missing, as an ear.
Crackshot fell down, dropping the head. The lifeless eye was still open, and they were looking intensly at him. Out of reflex, he kicked the head away from him, making it roll for a few yards, before stopping against its body. The eye was still looking at him, as if pitying him, and it made him feel uneasy, He tried to empty his stomach again, but he had already given his all previously and on only found to be able to spew bile out. The fact that he had carried a human head for quite a bit of time, before finding out, did not help him to stop, just like the thought that he had drunk some of the blood from this person.
Behind him, the door slowly opened in a nerve wrenching creak, and Crackshot could see coming out of it, the silhouette of a young girl, maybe 14 years old. She had medium blonde hair and her eyes were red, probably from a lot of crying. When she saw the corpse, she couldnt help it, and naturally gave out a scream that would have made a banshee proud.
Like a beacon, the scream had attracted a dozen of other people in the room, some of them were girls, who left the room as soon as they saw the bloody remains, one of them also fainting in the process. A couple of the guys imitated Crackshot and emptied their stomachs on their shoes, but surprinsingly enough, a few of them kept their calm and started investigating on who was the dead person. One of them left the room, going after the girls yelling at them that they shouldn't get separated, and that it was dangerous to go alone.
Crackshot knew these people. They had only met a few days before, but he had often talked with them on a forum. They were his friends, from the Rabbit Doubt Game.
They soon found out who was the person who had fallen against the atrocity of his attacker. It was Fallenbane....
Crackshot sat in a corner. Alone.
They had left the body where it was, and they had moved on to another room, free from gore and blood. All of the people around him were familiar faces, and where either in a group of two or more, trying to cheer others up, or trying to find a solution to their problem, or simply weeping.
The main group was composed of six boys, Kuro, a GM of Rabbit Doubt Game, a medium sized man, with short black hair, and a smart casual style which suited him, Lyly, the "Joker"of the forum, was a tall man, with a constant twinkle which never left his eyes, even in their current situation. His camo cargo pants and black shirt made him seem more imposing than in reality. Both where in their mid twenties thought Crackshot.
The group was also composed Hiddenl, the "Prince Charming", that made all of the girls swoon in front of him. He had blond hair, with a crazy hair due, blue yes, fair facial attributes, and his shirt, combined with his loose tie made him feel, oddly enough, reassuring. The eldest was Acdbrn, who was in his late twenties. He was a composed man, with brown hair and who wore glasses, in a teacher like fashion. He apparently also was a teacher in real life. Kit, second in line age wise, was also part of the group, rarely spoke a word, except to agree or disagree with somebody, he didn’t seem much at a first glance, havinga medium build, but he was not to be underestimated, his baggy clothes his muscles who were a force to be reckoned with.
The youngest of them was Unlucky who, unlike Kit, spoke openly and without fear with people who could be his elder brothers. With his glasses, his semi-long brown hair that were put in a disorderly fashion, his manner of speaking and his height, it would have been easy to mistake him with somebody six years older. He was probably one of the tallest of the whole group and the most calm about their current situation, which was eery.
Others had been shocked by the scene of the body a few hours before yet, his facial features had not changed at the sight of it. He was the first one to rush to it, trying to hide it with his bulk from the girls He had also been the one to tell Acdbrn to go fetch the girls after they had left the room, to escape the horrible scene that had been in front of them. A girl had joined his quickly, and they had been able to identity the corpse together
The girls were in a small group chatting about everything and anything, to forget the situation they were in. Everybody copes with their own ways.
Haruhi, the youngest of the whole group, and who had screamed a few hours before upon finding Fallenbane's body, was fast asleep in the arms of Elliecakes, the eldest of the girls, who was acting all big sister like for Haruhi. Ellie possessed long, very long black hair, and she wore glasses. She had been the one to help Unlucky identify poor Fallenbane’s remains. The other girls, Trinity, an American girl like most of them, blond hair flowing, Kura, a red head with a bad temper most of the time, and the Goldenfairy, a bit aloof, were talking of who was more dreamy between Edward and Jacob.
Everybody copes in their own ways.
The only couple of the group was composed of Dismyname and Alterminded. The recent game of the forum, where somebody posted a fake message using Alterminded's name had created a certain movement amongst the players, with many drawings and stories created in the name of this couple. It had been a fun time, but it all seemed so far now. They were in another corner, cradled against one another. Telling themselves that everything would be okay.
Everybody copes in their own ways.
Dainoblood was the most traumatized of them all, he just sat in a corner, mumbling to himself, refusing to answer any questions that had been asked to him. He was a short man, hair cropped close, jeans, and shoes tainted with bile.
Everybody copes in their own ways.
The debate amongst the six guys was intensifying, all were okay with the fact that they had to explore the rest of the building, or whatever they were in, to see if their was anything useful to scavenge, or to even find an exit. The main debate was to see if they should stay in a a big group to explore the rest of whatever they were in, or split into groups of three or four people, to cover more ground more easily.

Acdbrn, Kuro and Hiddenl believed that it would be much safer to travel in a big group, while Unlucky, Lyly and Kit thought that smaller groups would attract less the attention then a group of a dozen of people. Their debate proved why you need an uneven number of people when doing things like those.
Both of the groups presented their ideas to the rest of their companions of misfortune, or at least those with the capacity of voicing an opinion. After a quick vote where three people of the group voted nothing, Alterminded and Dismyname seemed impervious to their surroundings, and Dainoblood, who didn't seem to understand what was happening, it was decided that they will make three teams of four and a team of three. The three man who wanted to explore in a big group grumbled of bit, but quicly accepted the decision.
The teams were composed of Lyly, Elliecakes, HAruhi (who refused to leave Elliecakes's side), and Crackshot. The second team was composed of Dainoblood, Hiddenl, Kura and Unlucky. The third team was composed of Acdbrn, Dismyname, Alterminded and TheGoldenFairy. The final group was composed of Trinity, Kuro and Kit.
They were to all leave to different places in the structure they were in, and meet back, in the room that they had left an hour or so later, with any information they had found out of the place where they were, and anything, vaguely edible they could find, otherwise, they would not survive long.
That was the plan, but like always, a plan never lives up to the hype.
Hope you enjoyed it.
Until next time
