Welcome All Furry Creatures!
After spending the last week mulling over a game that I participated in, trying to manage my life, and playing a great game I have yet to finish (because 3DS battery life sucks)...I realized one thing:
Why do I keep playing this game?
Rabbit Doubt is GREAT. Don't get me wrong...but why don't we ever have anything to do when we wait, and die, and live, and doubt...SO MUCH WAITING IN THE DAYS!
Not to mention it ruins relationships, brings you down, and really just boreeeees you on an on/off basis. Come on, tell me, all of you MUST have felt that way at sometime?
Example)
"I really don't want to go read the round yet."
Clear and all I need to prove my point!
SO LET'S STEP ON DOWN TO A FASTER PACED GAME!
The Rabbits Dilemma Story:
Once upon a time, there were a village of rabbits. They lived in peace and harmony, only to be pained time and time again in an endless cycle of death and betrayl. The cycle never ended; Rabbits died and these sneaky wolf creatures littered the land until the last of the rabbits were dead...Although this only occurs at night. During the day, the Rabbits (and wolves in disguise) march over to their booths for voting and hang a comrade or...the beast who killed them.
However, what happens during the time the wolves aren't there to play...? We all wonder what happens in the days of preparation that cause the new worlds to take so long to be created...It is called the "Rabbit's Dilemma".
The Dilemma the Rabbit's face isn't death, but it is still betrayl. Or is it honesty? To be fair, it is a little of both. For the food the rabbits stock on- the lifetime amount of carrots and lettuce- was stolen! It was a heist no one saw coming...except for Village Elder Degree.
During his first time hosting a world, he kept a close eyes on these rabbits to make sure they stay on the right track. During a previous session of preparation, he caught the signs of thievery but no thieves. Anyone could see suspicious people and anyone can pretend to not see it, but people are people. Just as these rabbits were going to be how they are. There was no changing them, unless you separate the problem....
"I have seen two rabbits sneak off with our supplies! Which one of it was you? Who was it that brought their friend and reaped all the others with this brutal blow?!"
No one came up to confess, just as Degree had expected. Still, there was a problem to all this. There were more than two suspicious people. So, to cut his losses, he decided to play a little game.
Each pair of suspicious people were going to have someone to confess sooner or later.
One would want out, while selling the other out.
The moral dilemma in overseeing this was whether or not convict the one that confesses- no, that one would deserve some praise for seeking redemption. However, staying true to your friends is rewarded as well. If one stays quiet while the other confesses...well, that just makes things worse, doesn't it?
The Rabbit's Dilemma Origin:
I'm sure some of you know what this is.
I'm sorry, it was first known as the "Prisoner's Dilemma" in which two men did a crime that would convict them both for a long time. The police didn't have enough information to do this, so he offered them both a chance to make it easier for one or the other's fate.
If one prisoner confessed, he did less time while if the other prisoner stayed quiet, he did much more.
If both confessed, both do the longest amount of time.
If both stay quiet, both do the same time intended with no information gained to convict them, therefore, the median and best choice.
The best isn't always the most rational, however.
In a game that I have been playing, this concept was also used. Same with the Liar Game set up now, kind of. It's a game that relies on what you think the other person will do. And, that is basically the gist of it.
Rules of the Game:
At least for this Round, I would like to start off simple and straightforward.
1. All players start with 0 points and aim to get the highest amount. Whether to win anything is To Be Decided. Even then, it's best that you all sign some disclaimer that say you are prepared for the punishment if you lose. But, who loses, and who wins...Heh. You'll find out sooner or later.
2. The setup is simple-
Choose to 'Keep Quiet' or 'Confess'.
To explain, some examples are needed.
First Option
Player A has 0 points.
Player B has 0 points.
If Player A and Player B both 'Keep Quiet' both gain 5 points.
Final Results;
Player A has 5 points.
Player B has 5 points.
Second Option
Player A has 0 points.
Player B has 0 points.
Player A chooses to 'Confess' while Player B chooses to 'Keep Quiet'. If this happens, Player A gains 7 points and Player B loses 2 points. Realistically, it doesn't seem like much, but it does matter.
Player A has the total of 7 points.
Player B has -2 points.
Third Option
Player A has 0 points.
Player B has 0 points.
Both choose to 'Confess' and end up dealing with it as an even game. Neither gain or lose points.
The total for both Player A and B are 0 points.
People will get ahead of you one way or another, unless you all pick the same answer. Choose wisely
3. The length of the 'Game' or 'Round' depends on the numbers of players. Chances are, you will be playing more than once and with more people. Four are required to start.
4. I won't stop you from planning in PMs or in public. It's all free for you to discuss and choose, but the results will always be here and I will never give away any of the results before the deadline. It's the name of the game to do what you want and still try to keep people happy...Emphasis on the try.
5. You won't play against the same people every round. Slight chance I may put it that way, but I doubt it to be so.
6. Since this is a 'Mini-game', I will not be taking months off or weeks while you all discuss what you want. I'll be around frequently to check up during the day or within' the allotted time. Still to be decided.
7. If you have no answer, you will automatically default to 'Keep Quiet'. Ironic, isn't it? That's all you guys need to PM me. One of those two, simple phrases...
