A Letter to the Survivors:

_{This letter was found posted in the dead chat of some unnamed game. The names have been removed to protect the innocent}

Dear players who are left alive,
It was never my intention to knowingly help a wolf to hunt and hurt so many of you. Maybe I should start at the beginning.

As many of you have become aware during the course of the game, I was involved with a group of players with the full intention of catching the wolf. I had believed that we were working towards the good of the innocent players and had a real chance to find and catch the wolves.

We started out in the first round, making a simple pact to work to look at the game with unbiased eyes and try to see if there was anything that, as individuals, we would have missed. For a time, everything seemed to be going so very well. Heated debates over skype led way to new avenues of reasoning and illumination on the workings of the game. We were able to get over the shortcomings that tended to plague the average player. No post was left unscoured for new information that we were sure would be the final piece of the puzzle. Had I known what I know now, I would have never listened to a word that was said.

Little things, seem so very innocent when posed as a theory or new way to look at the situation. Comments along the line of “What makes you suspect that the wolf had a hand in this hanging?” are commonplace in a group looking for that final clue. While it looked, at least to me, that the wolf was always there. Just a little more and I would finally grasp the whole picture and realize exactly who we were dealing with.

Alas the wolves always were a step ahead. Soon the assumptions that a wolf was involved in this or a wolf had eaten someone for that, were cast aside and proven to be false. While none of us had posted a word of what was said in the group for fear that the wolves would use it to better hide themselves and devour us for having the audacity of teaming up to catch them. I realize now that is exactly what XX-XX wanted.

Not that long after I suggested to the group that there might be a spy among us, or worse, a wolf feeding information to his/her partner did the group itself fall into the very chaos that we had joined together to prevent. Accusations flew at the speed of light through the lines that interconnected our respective computers. Doubt at who among us we could really trust paralyzed our ability to work together anymore.

Soon after that I started to be contacted by the others of the group away from the eyes and safety of the others.
XXXXX said that XXX could not be trusted but he believed that someone like myself with enough honor to point out our possible folly could defiantly be trusted not to be a spy or wolf hiding within the group.
XXX sent me a pm stating that XX-XX was acting suspicious around him and that he wanted to trust in me in case he died laying a trap.
XX-XX told me over a call that he didn’t really trust anyone with in the group, but he still believed that working together would be beneficial to our cause.

I started to think back to every spoken word, every typed message I had ever received from XXX, XX-XX and XXXXX. I could only come to one conclusion that XX-XX had to be the guilty party. So as quickly as I could find the words to put to keyboard did I type out a message to both XXX and XXXXX letting them know of my discovery.

I got two messages in reply, oddly worded the same.
“So you never found me then, good. I will let XX-XX know to be more careful in the rounds to come”

Tale of the Rose

A time long ago saw a woman of such beauty that it was said her smile could light the darkest of nights brighter then the sun itself could. Of course as these stories go she was loved by many the towns people. One man in particular was fond of her above all others. He was but a humble knight in service to the feudal lord. Even though he was a titled knight he was of low standing and oft made to do the most menial of chores. But he never once cursed his lot in life. For his position allowed him the honor of being able to visit the castle grounds and gaze at the vestige of the fair maiden who sat at her window every morning and gazed to the morning dawn as if to welcome it.

Pardon me for not realizing sooner my error in forgetting to mention that the very lady of legend and the one the knight so pined for was none other then the daughter of that very lord. It should also be mentioned that this sparkling woman was also betrothed to be wed by the captain of the knights and duke of many parcels of land.

One early morning when our humble knight had finished his daily chore of tending the war horses he look up, as he so very often did, towards the window of his beloved goddess. However instead of the usual radiant smile she wore every morning, he caught the slightest glimpse of a despondent look upon her face and could have sworn that he heard the quietest of sighs escape her cherry lips. What the knight did not and could not know was the reasoning behind her forlorn attitude. It was on that morn that the lady had learned that she was to be wed on the fortnight during the feast of the new moon. It was not that her betrothed was a bad man, quite the opposite in truth. He was a man of the highest morals and courtesies, but alas no love. She knew he married her only due to his obligations to the people under his care and she was to be wed off only to secure the commitment of the captain.

All during the day the knight could not get the image of her face out of his head. Her saddened eyes haunted his vision even though he was not sleeping. He knew deep down that he must do something to cheer up the one how by her very presence brought so much comfort and light into the lives of those she was around. But what could one such as he do? he had not the power or money, he thought, to do anything that could bring a relief to her suffering. By chance he passed by a traveling minstrel who was spinning the tale of an incredible rose said to be the most beautiful of its kind. He begged and pleaded with the traveling man to share what he knew about it. With much cajoling and much mead he was able to find out two things. One was that the rose was not the mere dreams thought up by people who spin tales for others amusement. The second bit was not as encouraging. It has been said in the many many years of the tale’s and indeed the rose’s existence, many had sought the fabled flower only to fail. The minstrel offered one last piece of advice when he saw the determination in the knight’s eyes after hearing the first bit of news. All he said was “be prepared to pay any price if the flower is what you truly desire”

With desire in his heart and the few bits of useful information he could gleam from the story he had heard he set off. For five days and five nights he relentlessly continued his desperate search for the cave in the legend. He had two days past sent his horse back to the castle with out him for fear of the beasts health. Though that did not stop him from keeping up his pace day and night with narely a hours of sleep himself.

At last he came to a cave that roughly fit the description he had been told. What he did not expect to see was the melted armor and arms that littered the field in front of the entrance. When he flipped over one of the armors he saw a more ghastly sight. The burnt remains of the previous owner with his face so twisted in fear that even though it was mostly muscle and bone left it was still clear to the eye. With this horrific sight most ordinary men would have fled the area for fear of their own safety. To the knight it only served to let him know that it seemed that no one else had claimed the rose before him.
He only had but a moments pause to consider that fact though, for at that moment he heard a roar that shook the trees, grass, metal and in truth the very ground he stood upon. A dragon the size only thought possible in tales that fairies spin upon children's dreams as they sleep appeared before his gaze. Its guttural roar deafened his ears and threatened to shake his armor from his very body. Unexpected to the knight though something even more impossible happened next. The dragon spoke.

“Foolish human, Why do you stand in my presence. Have you not the common sense to see all that is around you and flee the area?”

Only the most feeble of voice could escape the terror that griped the knight but it was enough to say, “I have come for the rose and nothing else”

“Nothing else, you dare to imply in my presence that there could be anything worth more to take from with in my cave!” The dragon snorted out in half rage half surprise that anyone could believe that there was anything better then his rose. Intrigued by his diminutive guest the dragon posed one more question to the knight. “What does thou want my most prized possession for? Is it for the riches that could be gained from selling it? Maybe the prestige from completing such a daunting quest? Knights such as you only seem to be interested in selfish reasons.”

Stung by the words of the dragon and by the realization of his own reasons for seeking the rose he honestly answered.
“I can not claim to be more noble then those who you have seen before. I left home with the belief that my reasons were not selfish but to be honest the journey has taught me exactly how selfish my reasons are. The reason I told myself when I left was to bring back the happy expression to a lady I know.” The dragon taken aback at the honesty of the words spoke to him and the sadness in the knights eyes could not get a word out in question as the knight continued. “I realized that my real reason for wanting her to be happy again was the simple and selfish reason of wanting to see her smile myself again. I do feel ashamed at my reason but still I will not let her suffering continue because of my improper motives. So I ask of you again may I please have the rose. I will pay any price you see fit as long as you let me deliver the flower to her.”

“Very well, human you may remove the rose but do not forget the promise you have made this day.” The dragon with those final words spoken spread his mighty wings and took to the sky.

In the deepest part of the cave under a single light that shown through a prism like crystal stood a rose of the most brilliant burgundy hue. Though it was at the center of small garden of some of the most beautiful flowers ever the rose alone elicited awe at the sight of it. There could be no doubt that this was the fabled rose. With great care the knight dug the flowers roots out and placed it in a bag of some moistened soil he had prepared earlier. With his prize now in hand he set off back towards the town and the woman he had left.

Though the weight of his armor had not changed in the least, his steps felt lighter then they had ever been. One could assume that it was the elation of a task well completed that lifted the spirits of the knight. Truth be told the knowledge that every step he took brought him one step closer to her was really all the satisfaction he needed. As he neared the half way point of his journey home he noticed that the same high spirits he enjoyed was not shared by the rose. It seemed that every step he took the rose seemed to wilt just a little more. It could not be the soil he thought. He had carefully selected the very same soil the flower was growing in to place with it. It could not be the water. Although he was overjoyed to be going home he had taken many breaks to make sure the flower had had proper water chosen from the purest of springs along the way. What could it be?

The answer hit him all at once and he was shocked that he had not realized it before. It was sad for the very same reason he was becoming happier. Every mile he walked brought him one mile closer to home and the one he loved. But that same mile tore the rose that same distance from its home and all the flowers that had surrounded it. Perchance as he was realizing this very fact he spotted a lone yellow chrysanthemum by the side of the road. Using the same great care he had given the prized rose he carefully dug out its roots and bound it in a sack of fine soil and pure water. He thought that if he would not have to be alone soon then the rose and even the chrysanthemum did not deserve that fate either. And so he continued on his journey.

As he approached the outskirts of the town he began to notice the festivities that were under way. Preparations were well in swing for the impending marriage. Stopping a passerby he asked what was going on and was told of the Captain’s and Lady’s marriage that was to be held the day after. After hearing these words the knight changed his current course and instead of heading to the castle headed towards the knight’s barracks. Seeing the Captain at his usual desk doing his usual paperwork he suddenly understood the reason for the lady’s dismay. Walking over he handed captain both of the flowers and asked if he would deliver them to the lady and say it was from captain himself. When the captain, a man of honor, started to try and state that he could never pass of someones gift as his own. The knight simply replied, “It would mean more to me if you would please honor my selfish request.” With that the Captain could not argue anymore.

Leaving the barracks the knight happened upon the same traveling minstrel who had apparently over heard the conversation. He asked of the knight why he did not hand the flowers over himself. The knights words of reply were not sad but more serene. “My only concern if for her to smile once again the way she always had. If she can get more happiness from someone else presenting her my gift then so be it.”

The minstrel, much to the knight’s surprise, turned a sad eye over towards him and spoke. “I was going to wait until you had at least given over your gift to exact my payment. I thought it to be the least courtesy I could show someone who showed me such bravery. But oh well.” With those words spoken the light forever left the knights eyes.

To this very day in the language of flowers a burgundy rose symbolizes unconscious beauty and a yellow chrysanthemum sighted love in honor of the Knight and the Woman he loved at first sight.

I don't know what to say really.
One Round Down
In one of the biggest battles of Rabbit Doubt Games
all comes down to today.
Either
we heal
as a group
or we are going to crumble.
Hint by hint

till we're finished.
We are in hell right now, players
believe me
and
we can stay here
and get the PUPPIES kicked out of us
or
we can fight our way
back into the light.
We can climb out of hell.
One hint, at a time.

Now I can't do it for you.
I don't hold all the answers.
I look around and I see these grudges and predijuces
and I think
I mean
I made every wrong choice a player could make.
I uh....
I pissed away the help of a good player
believe it or not.
I chased off
any idea that was contrary to mine.
And lately,
I can't even stand the Player I see in the screen.

You know when you get old in life
things get taken from you.
That's, that's part of life.
But,
you only learn that when you start losing stuff.
You find out that life is just a game of choices.
So is RDG.
Because in either game
life or RDG
the margin for error is so small.
I mean
one half post too late or to early
you don't quite convience them.
One half second too slow or too fast
and you don't quite catch it.
The hints we need are everywhere around us.
They are in ever break of the game
every minute, every second.

In this Group, we fight for that hint
In this Group, we tear ourselves, and everyone around us
to pieces for that hint.
We CLAW with our finger nails for that hint.
Cause we know
when we add up all those hints
that's going to make the efffing difference
between WINNING and LOSING
between LIVING and DYING.

I'll tell you this
in any fight
it is the guy who is willing to die
who is going to win that hint.
And I know
if I am going to have any life anymore
it is because, I am still willing to fight, and die for that hint
because that is what LIVING is.
The choices you make with the information you have.

Now I can't make you do it.
You gotta look at the post above and below you.
Look into the words.
Now I think you are going to see a player who will find that hint with you.
You are going to see a Player
who will sacrifice him/herself for this group
because he/she knows when it comes down to it,
you are gonna do the same thing for him/her.

and either we heal now, as a group,
or we will die as individuals.
