Somber.
I see, you are here.
I'll be leading you through this barren adventure. Through it, there will be obstacles and puzzles for you, and everyone who's with you, to try to solve together. Or, perhaps alone, since it's better that way.
First, however, let's go over some ground rules, to make sure we all understand and follow them.
🍬 If you did not sign-up or have died, do not post! Only those who are alive may post.
🍬 If you die, you may post once in the thread to say your goodbyes. (It may help someone else out!)
🍬 This game may contain deceit and betrayals! Please, no matter what happens in the game, it stays in the game. No resentment or animosity!
🍬 Decision making time will last however long you need. However, once you make a decision, it's final!
🍬 If you need to leave the game for any reason, post it! This'll just help those who may be waiting for you.
🍬 If you have any questions about the game, PM me.
🍬 You may work together in groups or partners to solve puzzles.
🍬 If you decide to stay back the whole game, that's fine. But, if you are the last person, you must progress to the farthermost puzzle reached by your group in order to win. Otherwise, the next person in line who reached that point will win.
🍬 Keep in mind, there will be 1 winner and 1 runner-up. This means you are against each other.

Decision 1
"We all have to start out somewhere, right? But, of course, we won't start off easy!"
The group comes to a field full of rotten candy. The somber girl steps through the field, crushing the candies beneath her. "Alright then, look around you. Think of words that come to mind when seeing this disgusting candy." She picks up a piece, but it crushes to ash at her touch. She goes on,
"It can be spelt with 2 letters to sound the same, though it has 5 letters in the English dictionary.
Out of it's 5 letters, the first 2 make up the sound of the first letter (of the 2 letter version). The last 3 letters make up the sound of thesecond letter (of the 2 letter version).
It is the base word used to describe the candies in this field."
"What is the word?"
Final answers MUST be messaged to me. (Either RDG or Discord is fine.)
This is how you can deceive / betray your competition. You can say one thing in the thread, but PM me something totally different. You may also be completely honest and work with everyone else. However, if you all get the wrong answer, you will all fail.
Based on the difficulty of this puzzle, you get: 1 hint. (Ask when you need it)

Hint 1: The 2 letters (that make up the sound of the 5 letter word) can also be used as an acronym for a popular video game from 1981, a single-screen action puzzle type.

Decision 2
"Shall we take it up a notch?"
The group presses on, until they walk into a dead end. Or, so it seems. The world is cracked at the end of the path, but it appears there are two different choices. One way is to head right, towards the river. The other is to head left towards the forest. Either or, forward is no longer an option. The group looks at each other, unsure which direction to go. Out of no where, two shadows appear before the group. They appear intimidating, but they may be the only way to move forward. In a ghastly voice, one mummers, "Each of you may ask one of usone question, but only one of us, and only one question." The group looks discouraged, but they know they must take their chances. What will you ask?
"Will you go right or left?"
Final answers MUST be messaged to me. (Either RDG or Discord is fine.)

Hint 1: One shadow will lie to you. One shadow will tell you the truth. Unfortunately, you do not know which one is which, so make your question count!
EDIT: to make things more organized, one shadow is to the right of you, and one shadow is to the left. I'll RNG which is which to make it fair. You can either ask the shadow to the right of you or the shadow to the left. (you can PM me the question if you don't want to ask aloud)

Out of the 7 who answered so far . . . 7 passed! Congratulations!
[Somber: 2 Answer]
Hint 1 was required to fully solve. (but if you RDG'ed and passed, you still move on) Answer: Ask one of the shadows 'Which door would the other shadow say leads to safety?' If you ask the truthful one, he will say the lying shadow would say the wrong door. If you ask the lying shadow, he would say the truthful shadow would pick the wrong door as well (since he is lying). So no matter who you ask, choose the door opposite of what they say and end up the correct way. `The right path is the correct path.` The left shadow is the liar, the right shadow tells the truth.

Decision 3
"Too easy?"
Following the new path, the remaining group members are stopped before they reach their destination. There seems to be a ground of playful souls floating around, assumingly playing tag. One spirit in particular comes up to the group. However, the spirit is talking in a very foreign language. It says,
🏱☟ 🕆🏱 🕆✋☞ 👎✋☞💣👌✈📬 ☝⚐☺☜ ✋☞🕆 ☪☹☞ 🕆👌 ✋🕆☞ ☞💣✈👌👎✋📬
You can't quite understand the soul, but it seems like something important in order to move on.
"What did the soul say?"
Final answers MUST be messaged to me. (Either RDG or Discord is fine.)

The saying will either help or hamper your next Decision.

Hint 1: There are 2 English sentences. Each word of each sentence has a space after it. The sentences themselves had been through 3 different techniques, from English to what you see now. The first technique placed on the English sentences was a code, where each letter was shifted by a specific amount. That amount is the same for every letter.
Example) If the original letter was A, and the coded letter was C; the original letter was shifted to the right by 2 letters.

Hint 2: The saying will reveal a location. The second technique used, after the coding, was a scrambler. The word letters were scrambled, but not the words themselves.

Decision 4
". . ."
Following the soul's directions, the group heads to the location. At first glance, the item mentioned by the soul is no where to be seen! Luckily, you know what you're looking for. You get a total of 5 actions, and you can work with your group to find the item. Right now there are several areas / items to explore (directionals don't change based on where you stand):
Left Wall
Right Wall
Front Wall
Back Wall
Floor
Ceiling (requires 2 people)
Benches
Lectern
Balcony
Organ
"Find the item!"
Actions do not need be messaged to me. (But you only get 5, I will keep track!)
You can deceive / betray your competition. You can say one thing in the thread, but PM me something totally different. You may also be completely honest and work with everyone else. However, if you all get the wrong answer, you will all fail.
Based on the difficulty of this puzzle, you get: Freedom to Explore and a general Map. (5 actions total!)
