Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome to the
Soulmate Game! ...Sign-ups...
As you all have been sure to see, a certain love-filled holiday is right around the corner. With Valentine's Day approaching ever-faster, you know that your heart may also be beating just as fast. Flowers, chocolate, maybe even stuffed animals? What more can you look forward to this day than be with your significant other-- wait, I am getting a call.
What?
...
Are you sure?
...
Why, that is no good! No good at all!
Ahem, it has been brought to my attention from Kristina's Beautiful Bouquet Wedding Planner Company that some of you are in need of a little trust and love. You're in luck, Matchmaker Degree will help you find your perfect match! Despite most of you being high school students and faculty, I think I can look through your files and find your perfect match. I aim to build the greatest couple of them all-- the ship that will sail into the mesmerizing sunset with someone who was beside you through thick and thin. Now just take a seat and fill out your name and soon, you two will be take on the Soulmate Game!
The Rules:
Basics--
- In this game, you will be paired with a partner. Consider this a team of two people.
- Your goal is to survive the game and make it to the end.
- Every person will have a teammate, even if there is an odd number of players.
- The wolves are the teams themselves.
Soulmates--
- 1 - Two players will be Soulmates, meaning they are a team.
- 2 - If one player dies, and the other player survives to the end, the team can still win!
- 3 - The goal of each pair of Soulmates is to eliminate the other Soulmates.
- 4 - Each team will be numbered and hidden. So if Degree and Trinity are Team 1, no one will know they are Team 1 besides whoever belongs to Team 1.
- 5 - In the event a player is leftover from the Sign-up pool, they will share a lover. Say if Lyon was leftover, then he would be in a team with Degree while Degree was in another team with Trinity. They would belong to separate teams and would not know of the other, only the shared player and the GM would know who this person is.
- 6 - Regardless of any situation, it is not recommended to tell anyone who your teammate is. However, it is not against the rules, and I encourage the use of alliances.
- 7 - Lastly, I am not a monster, but a matchmaker. If you do not want to be paired with a player for personal reasons, inform me. Also, if you have someone you really want to be paired with and they feel the same, then maybe I will be inclined to help.
Teams--
- You must all be wondering by now and I will confirm: You are all wolves. Humans who want nothing but love, but can kill.
- Team 1 will have the chance to kill first, and every number after 1 will follow their turns until the end of the game.
- I will indicate if an entire team has died in the Round in which the last member has died.
- If Team 1 chooses their kills, they must avoid being hanged. If they are hanged in the round they killed others, the people who hanged Team 1 will get immunity. This applies to all the teams and the current wolves/killers.
- If all the players have immunity, the select few who were some of the first to vote will be the only ones to have immunity.
- Those who get immunity will be informed, so do not assume you automatically have it.
- In this case, Team 1 are the killers. If they are hanged in rounds AFTER they killed, you do not get immunity. You only get it from hanging the current killing Soulmate Team.
- For clarification, Team 1 can still hang themselves and you can still hang Team 1 after the fact. Both are viable strategies.
- Think of this like Maou's Hunger Games, but with a different way to win.
- Soulmate Clause -
Simple. If you and your Significant Other make it to the end of this game alive, as the only surviving pair, you win.
Roughly, if 20% or lower players remain and only one pair lives, you also win. But that may be up for change depending on how many players join. My expectation is that if 6 players are living and two have survived the entire time, then that MUST be true love.
However, if you survive till the end with one (possibly two) other pair(s), then the Dead Chat will vote on the Best Couple to win!
During the course of the game, they will be able to vote on the Soulmates they like best and who they think should win. As with any other couple you see on your facebook feed, you like one more than the others. Or you hate them all. I don't really know, but you gotta choose one.
So in that case, a so-called popularity contest would signal which of the couples will win. If two (or three) players live to the end, but are not with their alive partners, the same voting will happen. If two people ditch their partners last second, and a new pair is formed against another, the same applies.
- Broken Heart Clause -
What? Did you think losing your perfect match would NOT affect you? HAH!
As someone who lost their partner, you are at a disadvantage in the game. Without your Soulmate, you can't perform two kills. That much is obvious. However, because you lost someone so important and you have not found love again, you have a 50% chance of being grief-stricken and unable to kill at all. This percentage will lower once the turn to kill comes back to the Broken Heart player. In this instance, the next Team will then be able to choose the kills. If a Broken Heart did kill, then only that player must be hanged.
However, being a Broken Heart gives another unique property.
A Broken Heart is able to move on if another Broken Heart comes along in the 24 hours that your heart is broken. With the power of newfound love in a horrible tragedy, you are able to repair yourselves into a different type of Soulmate!! (No special powers or anything, just a new partner)
From here, two things can happen:
1 - You and your new Soulmate will live happily ever after. If you win, you and your new Soulmate are the victors. Original Soulmates of this pair will be credited but they do not count as winners. "In Loving Memory" I call this part. This is the ultimate test of loyalty to see if you'll stay true to your lost love or move on to find new love. How important are they to you? Are they more important than winning?
If you choose to become a new pair you will replace the lower number (or the number closest to 1, in other words). Team 3 and Team 6 members found each other, so they now form the new Team 3!
2 - You reject or are unable to find new love. You will be a broken heart and must remain so for some time. Once this undetermined period (contingent on amount of players to join) is over, you will have the ability to form a new bond. However, if they refuse you again, you lose all chances of finding a new Soulmate. That's the breaks.
- Soap Opera Clause -
Porque!!!!
Why does love have to be so wild, so crazy, so hard to control!
Don't we wonder this all the time? Ah, probably not. Well this is an option to forcibly split a partnership.
If two people reeeeaaalllyyy wanted to be partners but I didn't match them, then who am I to stop love? Love is like a rose so beware. There are thorns on something even so pretty.
An "Affair" can be enacted if two people from opposite teams demonstrate a mutual, strong love between them that is absent with their original partners. In this case, a new team will be formed. So if there are 15 Teams, there are now 16. But like I said, love can be dangerous...
If two players really want to be partners and their old partners don't agree with this choice, they can both inform me if they would like to enact the "Revenge" part of this Clause. Because you forced your partners to become Broken Hearts while everyone was still alive, they have the choice to kill one of the two that betrayed them. They can decline, of course. However, no shenanigans here! If they planned to kill off one player and then rebuild the team, that is IMPOSSIBLE! You cannot mend a broken heart that was forcibly created.
The two that were betrayed can become a new team. No matter how you play it, there can be a happy ending that sprouts from this!
ONLY CAN BE ENACTED ONCE IN THE ENTIRE GAME.
This Sign-Up will be open for a few days in order to allow a good amount of people to join. If there are not enough players, this special game will unfortunately be postponed.
If you have any questions or suggestions, you can PM me, skype me, or create a thread specifically to ask questions about the rules. Let's not muck up the sign-ups with back and forth.
Please post if you'd like to sign-up!
